The story of the true “Moses” basket (Exodus 2:1-10. KJV)
Moses – “Because I drew him out of the water”. In days when Egyptians ruled, the king became fearful of Israelites because they grew so mighty in number, so the king issued a command to “take every newborn Hebrew boy & throw him into the Nile, but let all the girls live”. During this time a Hebrew woman bore a son. She took a basket made of reeds & covered it with tar to make it watertight, then put the baby in it, & then the river.
Today’s “Moses” basket:
Original reed basket was created thousands of years ago to keep a beautiful baby safe. Recently, the reed baskets become highly desirable by mothers wishing to keep their infants safe, secure, & close by. Today, tar, & a simple Hebrew blanket, have been replaced with soft cushions & padding, with beautiful fabrics designed to dress the basket & gently blanket your precious newborn.
Most baskets are made from palm, although they can be made from maize or the more expensive versions from wicker.
